How I Started My Travel Blog as an Empty Nesterby Tondzra – Destination Travel with Tondzra

For nearly three decades, my world has revolved around my beautiful family — and I wouldn’t change a thing about that. I’ve been married to my amazing husband Claude for 29 years, and together we’ve built a life full of love, road trips, late-night laughs, and plenty of unforgettable memories.

Raising our three children — Dominique, Destiny, and Claude III — has been my greatest joy. Dominique is currently in school to become a doctor (yes, I beam with pride every time I say that!). Destiny is in grad school pursuing speech pathology, and our youngest, Claude III, is working his everyday job and finding his own path. All three of them are strong, driven, and independent Gen Z young adults — and I couldn’t be prouder of who they’ve become.

Of course, the house feels a little different these days. Quieter. But not lonely. Alongside Claude and our 165-pound gentle giant of a German Shepherd, Bruno, and our sweet 10-pound grandpup, Charlotte (a Boston Terrier with a BIG personality), I’m embracing this new chapter.

Why I Started This Blog

For years, I poured my energy into motherhood and career — with over 15 years of experience in digital media, content creation, and online storytelling. But with the kids grown and my calendar a little more open, I realized: this is my time.

Travel has always been a part of our family life. We’ve done:

• 🧳 Out-of-state escapes

• 🌍 Even international adventures

And while I still love traveling with my husband and family, I’ve also found joy in the idea of solo travel — something just for me.

So I started Destination Travel with Tondzra as a way to:

• Inspire other women (especially empty nesters) to explore boldly

• Prove that this stage of life isn’t the end — it’s the beginning of something beautiful
